When I got to the academy, I was greeted by a group of older men wearing suits and ties.
They had all been there a week earlier and were looking for some new students.
I asked how many were here and their response was, “Not many,” but they were keen to know how to find them.
The academy is a kind of incubator for the music industry in Malaysia, and the graduates from here are sent to universities in the United States, the UK and France.
I spoke to one of the graduates, a music major, who was surprised to hear that many of his peers had moved on to other music industries.
“I am not really aware of any new talent,” he told me.
He said he had moved into a studio with his father to make money, but he still had some of his old influences in his music, and was eager to get to know them more.
I was interested in music for a long time.
I wanted to learn how to play guitar and piano, and that was the first time I went to school.
I had been studying for a year, but I never actually learned anything,” he said.
The university has a reputation for having the best music education, and it has been a long-running tradition for Malaysians to attend the academy.
A decade ago, it was still mostly the students who were getting their music lessons.
There are so many young musicians who want to do well in the industry, so the industry is going through a massive boom,” said Aishah Abdul Samad, a local business owner. “
The industry is booming.
There are so many young musicians who want to do well in the industry, so the industry is going through a massive boom,” said Aishah Abdul Samad, a local business owner.
She was also the first female graduate at the academy when I visited last year.
The graduates, some of whom are in their 20s and 30s, told me that they had been working as musicians for years, and they felt that they were the only ones who had a good education.
The academy is also a magnet for younger musicians, and many of them were also keen to get a taste of the music business in the U.S. After finishing their music education in the US, they are hoping to get their first jobs in the music sector.
The new graduates are also getting a taste for the world of international music.
They are taking lessons from the likes of The Killers, The xx, and Madeon.
“I would love to do a solo album or some sort of pop music, because that’s something that I would really like to do,” said Abdul Samads younger brother, who is a musician himself.
He said that he wanted to travel abroad to study abroad, but that he would be fine doing so if he could only find a job in the international music industry.
“If you can’t do that, I don’t know what you can do,” he joked.
A few days after I met them, I heard from one of their teachers that he had left the academy and that his students were leaving in droves.
I contacted him via Facebook and he said he would get back to me.
“What do you think about the school?
What do you hope to achieve here?”
I asked him.
“Well, we just want to make more money.
We would love it if they could help us to get jobs,” he replied.
“We don’t really have any ambitions in the world.”
