New York City-based music school Snyder Music Academy, or SNY, has opened its doors in Calcutta.
The school, located on a busy stretch of street in the city’s East Village, has attracted some of the biggest names in the music business including Adele, Drake, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars and Coldplay.
The opening ceremony of the new school was held at a reception organised by the Indian Music Awards (IMA) in Calabasas.
Snyde was founded in 2016 by a group of local entrepreneurs, including rapper Adan Khan.
It is part of the country’s music industry to provide a quality music education to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The schools aim to help young artists and musicians reach their full potential and reach out to a wider audience.
The school, which has already taught students from a range of backgrounds including Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam and Gujarati, aims to expand its scope to include music production and music licensing as well.
