The Oakville Music Academy in Jerusalem opened Monday, a music academy that will be open for business, students said.
Students from the Oakville Academy of Music will attend a concert and performance in Israel.
The school will be called the Oakridge Music Academy and will be a partnership between the Israeli music and art schools, said Yael Shalev, a student who lives in the area.
“It’s the first music academy I’ve been to that will have a music program in Israel,” she said.
Shalev said she hoped that the new school would help open doors to Israeli musicians.
She added that she hoped to hear more about the Israeli culture in the next few years.
“I hope we’ll get to know Israeli musicians, we’ll see the artists we love being treated like kings and queens in Israel, said Shalevs mother, Sari.
The school is also opening a scholarship program that will give a student the chance to go to Israel to study music.
It’s an opportunity for musicians to get out of the house and do something that is important to them,” said the school’s executive director, Shimon B. Yaron.
The Oakville music school, located in Jerusalem, is also part of the Jewish State’s cultural and educational mission.
It opened its doors in 2013.
It’s not the first time that a music school has opened in Israel; a school in Tel Aviv was also opened last year.
In 2013, the Israeli Ministry of Education announced that it would open the first new music school in Israel in more than 40 years.
In 2017, Israeli music students at the university of Haifa, the country’s oldest university, received an award to recognize the university’s contribution to Israeli music education.
In the same year, Israeli musicians won an award from the American Association of Music Educators for their outstanding contributions to music education and the arts in Israel and around the world.
The new Oakville academy is one of a number of new Israeli music schools that are being established by Israeli institutions to improve the quality of education in the country.
Israel’s government has been working on improving music education since 2014, when it passed legislation allowing more private and public schools to open in the occupied West Bank.
