Musicians from all across India are embracing free and affordable music classes in their own communities.
But the idea has been met with resistance in many parts of the country.
Here are five ways to keep the music academy going in your country.
Read moreIn India, there are two main ways to go about getting a music academy: a free one and a paid one.
Here’s how to keep a music school running in your community:1.
The free academy1.

Free music lessons for kidsIn the country, there is a free music academy in a local community called Musica Lakhis, which offers free lessons and also gives free tuition to students who sign up to its free online music lessons course.
The free music lessons also give students free meals and are also free of charge to residents of the locality.
A resident of Srinagar, a district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, said he had enrolled as a student in the free music school.
He said he has been able to find a place to study music, and he was looking forward to completing his degree.
He said he wanted to study in a state like Madras, where there is no such thing as a music degree, but it was not difficult to get one.
“I had to spend around Rs 5,000 for tuition and Rs 10,000 on a ticket for the school.
It is not too expensive for the parents, and the tuition fee is lower than most other schools in the area,” he said.
The other option is to pay for the music education with money borrowed from family or friends.
However, there has been criticism from some sections of the society that music teachers in these communities are often not paid enough.
In a Facebook post, the National Council for Education and Training (NCERT) in the country called on the government to take strict action against violators of music education laws.
“It is imperative that all the parents and teachers of students who are in the music industry are paid properly,” the NCERT said.
“The government should also take strict measures to make sure that the music instructors who teach music are paid appropriately.”
In a separate post, NCLT urged the government not to grant any free or cheap courses to students enrolled in free music schools.
“All the parents who enroll their children in free education courses, who are not getting their full compensation from the government, are not paying due attention to their children,” NCLK said.
“The government needs to take stern action against those who are taking advantage of students to earn money,” it added.2.
