Douglas Academy Music Academy, located in the northern suburbs of Brisbane, has announced that it will host a concert for its students on the second day of its Spring Concert Series in September.
Key points:The concert will be broadcast on the radioThe concert is being organised by Douglas academy students and alumniThe concert’s main theme is “All The Things You Need”The event will be attended by about 2,000 peopleThe concert comes after the Douglas Academy opened its doors to students in October, with a new concert series being held each month.
The concert series has grown over the years, and the students and their families have been able to enjoy the concert series together on the first day of each month as part of the Summer Concert Series.
The event has been organised by the Douglas Music Academy students and graduates.
The program is being run by the Australian Chamber of Commerce.
The Douglas Academy will host the concert on September 22, with students and guests being able to attend from 4.30pm.
“We have invited a few students to come in to perform the concert in a special capacity, so that they can get involved and give their all,” Douglas Academy CEO Steve Wilson said.
“It’s a great opportunity for all the students to be able to see what they can do and to be exposed to some of the great artists that we have in our programme.”
Mr Wilson said the concert was being held to promote Douglas Academy’s students and students alumni, who have worked with the organisation over the last few years.
“The students have all been incredibly supportive of this initiative and we want to make sure they are able to support the students as much as possible through the whole concert,” he said.
Students and alumni will also be able hear music from the likes of the Beach Boys, The Beatles, Paul McCartney, Paul Simon and many more, along with music from some of Australia’s best local and national bands, as well as some of Australian and international artists.
“When you think of music in Australia, you usually think of pop and classical music,” Mr Wilson said of the concerts.
“But we’ve also had the Beatles, The Beach Boys and others, and some really great classical music from Australia.”
So we’ve got some great music for the students.
“There’s some really fantastic music coming out of our students and the alumni and they can really get involved.”
He said that the concert will take place at the Douglas School of Music, which will also host a music festival in September, as part in a program that is all about encouraging and engaging students and staff.
“That festival will be in the main school’s building, which is a fantastic venue for the concert,” Mr Russell said.
The first Douglas Academy concert series in September last year featured The Beach Girls, Pink Floyd and The Beatles performing together on stage.
The band’s song, “All the Things You NEED” was the main theme of the event, with Mr Wilson saying that the students could feel a connection to the song.
“They can hear what they are singing, and they feel the emotions and the passion, and it brings tears to their eyes and brings a smile to their face,” he explained.
“And it brings them into their world and they have a feeling that they’re in it together.”
